In 2005, a small group of Chilean plant biologists had the vision and felt the need to connect and share ideas to advance the field of plant molecular biology in the country. The main immediate goal was to generate an instance for scientific discussion and exchange of ideas, primarily targeting young scientist in different plant molecular biology disciplines in Chile. This idea was the seed for creating the Chilean Network of Plant Biologists, which organized an annual scientific conference every year since 2006.
